Influenced by her artist mother and sportsman/wildlife enthusiast father, Julia Rogers began drawing animals and landscapes at a very young age. Extensive travel afforded her the opportunity to observe animals in their natural haitat, as is seen in Leopard Descent:

"This is a leopard that I saw in Namibia. Although they are primarily nocturnal, I wanted to show how perfectly the leopard is camouflaged and inconspicuous by day. Blending seamlessly with the sun-baked rocks, it slinks stealthily, making its silent descent."
